Sometimes you may need to register multiple Facebook accounts: for example, to work on different projects, run ads, or maintain anonymity. However, the platform’s rules allow only one personal profile per user. For affiliate marketers, advertising agencies, and digital marketing specialists, this becomes a challenge. Each attempt to create an additional profile may result in restrictions or bans. In this article, we’ll explain how to create multiple Facebook accounts and reduce the risk of blocks.

How many Facebook accounts can one user have

Officially, Meta prohibits users from having multiple personal accounts.

In early 2026, Facebook introduced a new feature that allows users to create up to four additional profiles to separate their interests. For example, one profile can be dedicated to photography, another to handmade products. Each of these profiles can have its own name, username, news feed, friends list, followers, as well as pages and groups. However, these are not separate Facebook accounts. All additional profiles are linked to the original Facebook account.

In addition, a user can create an unlimited number of business pages on Facebook and manage them through Meta Business Manager. This platform allows administrators to manage multiple ad accounts, pages, and groups on Facebook and Instagram, as well as multiple products and tracking pixels. However, all business assets are still connected to a single personal profile.

Why register multiple Facebook accounts

Despite Meta’s restrictions and its efforts to prevent multi-accounting, affiliate marketers, SMM specialists, and advertising professionals often use multiple Facebook pages. Users create additional accounts for multiple reasons:

  • Task separation. A user may create multiple Facebook accounts to separate personal and work-related activities or to manage different projects: for example, one account for e-commerce and another for digital products. To some extent, the additional profiles recently introduced by Facebook can help with this.

  • Affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing specialists often test multiple different creatives and funnels. This often requires access to multiple Facebook accounts. If one account gets restricted, they can continue working with others. We’ve already explained how affiliate marketing works on Facebook.

  • Ad account isolation. Advertising agencies manage projects for multiple clients at the same time. In many cases, they use separate Facebook accounts to do so. This allows them to allocate budgets more precisely and isolate ad accounts for different clients.

  • Geo testing. Multiple accounts make it easier to launch campaigns targeting different regions. Registering accounts in certain countries may also provide access to features unavailable elsewhere, and vice versa: e.g., Facebook Marketplace is not available in China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia.

  • Account farming and resale. Some users create multiple Facebook accounts with the intention of reselling them later. After registration, they prepare the accounts by building up Facebook activity and history, and then list them for sale on specialized platforms or marketplaces. We have also discussed how to farm Facebook accounts effectively.

  • Anonymity. Some users register a new Facebook account to separate activities or browsing history from their main profile. A second account can also help create a new digital identity, which may be relevant for investigative journalists.

How Facebook rules regulate multi-accounting

Meta actively fights multi-accounting. The platform regularly removes Facebook pages that belong to the same person. In the first half of 2025, Meta deleted 10 million fake accounts.

Why Facebook restricts multiple accounts

Meta’s policy is built around security and trust. The company actively removes multiple fake accounts, combats artificial engagement, and protects authentic creators. The most common reasons for multiple account restrictions include:

  • Fighting fake engagement. Facebook removes profiles involved in artificially inflating comments or reactions. Algorithms detect suspicious activity and block such accounts. This helps protect the platform’s advertising model and maintain auction transparency.

  • Preventing fraud and scams. Facebook deletes accounts linked to deceptive practices, illegal financial schemes, or scam activity.

  • Combating harmful behavior. The platform blocks users who engage in inappropriate or sexualized comments, especially those directed at minors.

  • Protecting creators. Meta removes accounts that impersonate well-known creators or use someone else’s name or brand without permission.

  • Feed quality and user experience. The system detects mass content duplication and spam behavior. In such cases, it may block both the content and the accounts distributing it. This protects both users from intrusive posts and creators from content theft.

How Facebook identifies multiple accounts belonging to the same person

Facebook’s algorithms detect violations automatically. The platform analyzes and links multiple accounts that appear to belong to the same individual based on several signals:

If the system detects overlaps, it may request identity verification, temporarily restrict certain features, or permanently disable the profile. For this reason, careful account isolation is essential when working with multiple accounts.

How to create multiple Facebook accounts

When creating multiple Facebook accounts, it is important to follow several principles:

  • Use different credentials. Create new email addresses or prepare new phone numbers. The same email or phone number must not be linked to multiple Facebook accounts at the same time.

  • Spoof your IP address. Facebook analyzes users’ IP addresses. Residential or mobile proxies can help hide your real IP address.

  • Separate devices and fingerprints. The platform analyzes not only IP addresses but also device parameters — operating system, language, and time zone. This combination of characteristics is known as a browser fingerprint. If multiple accounts are created with the same fingerprint, the system can quickly detect the connection. For this reason, a new account should be created from a different device, such as a smartphone. Another option is to use a specialized anti-detect browser designed for multi-accounting, such as Octo Browser.

A new Facebook account can be created in several ways:

  • Through a regular browser. Go to facebook.com and log out of your current account. Then click Create New Account and complete the standard registration process.

  • Through a different browser. If you usually use Chrome, try registering the account in Safari, Firefox, or another browser.

  • In incognito mode. Activate Incognito Mode in your regular browser and open facebook.com. Then complete the standard registration steps.

  • In the Facebook app. Open the official mobile application. Log out of your current account, tap Create New Account, and follow the registration steps.

  • Through an anti-detect browser. You can also work through an anti-detect browser such as Octo Browser. It spoofs the browser fingerprint, reducing the risk of technical overlaps and account linking. The steps are the same as in a regular browser: create a separate browser profile inside the anti-detect environment, open facebook.com, and complete the registration.

Important: Successful registration in a regular browser or mobile app does not guarantee long-term stability. Facebook’s algorithms analyze both technical and behavioral signals. If the system detects a connection between multiple Facebook accounts belonging to the same user, it may trigger additional verification measures or disable them outright. The risk of a ban will be minimal if you create multiple accounts and continue using them within anti-detect browser profiles with their own IP addresses.

How to switch between multiple Facebook accounts

Facebook allows users to switch between multiple accounts through the standard menu.

Instructions for the web version

In the desktop version, you can switch accounts through the profile menu:

  1. Open facebook.com.

  2. Click the profile icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Select All Profiles.

  4. Click Switch Accounts.

  5. Choose the account you want to access and select Log Into Another Account.

Instructions for the mobile app (iOS and Android)

In the mobile app, quick switching is not available. To access another account, the user must:

  1. Open the application.

  2. Go to the profile menu.

  3. Log out of the current account.

  4. Log in to another account by entering the login and password again.

Standard switching works in situations where Facebook’s algorithms do not detect suspicious signals. For example, when two people (such as a husband and wife) use different accounts on the same device.

However, switching accounts within Facebook does not hide technical parameters. The platform still analyzes:

  • IP address;

  • browser fingerprint;

  • behavioral patterns;

  • cookies and session data.

If the system detects that one person is operating multiple Facebook accounts, it may trigger verification, followed by restrictions or permanent bans. For this reason, a more secure approach is to register and manage multiple Facebook accounts through an anti-detect browser.

How Octo Browser helps with multi-accounting

Octo Browser replaces your device’s digital fingerprint with another real browser fingerprint. This set of characteristics includes more than 100 parameters — time zone, screen resolution, device language, User-Agent, and many others. When these parameters are spoofed and your real IP address is masked by a proxy, Facebook’s algorithms perceive you as a unique user with a unique device. For example, you may actually be working from a laptop in Spain with a 1920x1080 screen resolution and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card; for the system, however, you can appear as a user in Germany accessing Facebook from a desktop computer with a 3840x2160 resolution and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070.

Within the anti-detect browser, you can create multiple isolated profiles, each with its own fingerprint. You can also assign separate proxies to each of them. By launching these profiles, you can register multiple Facebook accounts and continue managing them from a single device without triggering suspicion from the algorithms.

How to create and manage Facebook accounts in Octo Browser

Getting started

  1. Register in Octo Browser. To do this, enter your email address, create a password, and click Sign up.

  2. Open the email to activate your account.

  3. Download the browser. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

  4. Launch the anti-detect browser. Enter your login and password.

  5. Choose a subscription plan. The pricing starts at €7 per month with annual payment.

Creating an anti-detect profile

In Octo Browser, you can create a profile in several ways.

  • Quick profile. Click Quick Profile in the top right corner. The browser will create a profile with a random real fingerprint.

  • New profile. Click Create Profile. You will see a window with detailed settings. Here, you can specify the name, description, and tags, as well as manually configure fingerprint parameters. We recommend using the parameters assigned automatically by the system. Change them only if you clearly understand why you are doing it.

  • Template. If you want to create multiple Facebook accounts, use a template. In the Templates section, click Create Template. This will create a preset that can be used later to generate new profiles with predefined parameters. Parameters that are not fixed in the template will be generated automatically. Additionally, add several different proxies to the template. When creating a new profile, the system will select a random proxy from the assigned ones. Before starting your work with multiple Facebook accounts, activate the template by switching the Active toggle in the corresponding row.

  • Bulk creation. To create dozens of profiles, it is better to use the Bulk Create option. Click the three dots next to the Create Profile button and select Bulk Create. This allows you to create up to 100 profiles at the same time.

Connecting a proxy

Attaching a proxy is a mandatory step to safely manage multiple Facebook accounts at once. You can choose a provider directly in Octo Browser in the built-in Proxy Shop. It includes over 60 million IP addresses across 195 locations worldwide. Octo users can purchase them with discounts of up to 60%.

To buy proxies:

  1. Click Buy Proxies in the top right corner.

  2. Select a provider.

  3. Click Top Up.

  4. Select the desired proxy bundle.

  5. Pay for the bundle.

Next, you need to add a separate IP address to each anti-detect profile. To do this:

  1. In the Profiles tab, click Direct in the Proxy column.

  2. Click the provider icon.

  3. Select the country, region, and city.

  4. Click Confirm.

Tip: Each profile that will be used to register a Facebook account must have a separate IP address assigned to it, and the location should not be changed afterward. A sudden change of region will trigger suspicions from Meta’s algorithms.

Preparing a profile

Facebook does not trust newly created accounts without history. Its algorithms favor behavior that closely resembles that of a real user. For this reason, before registering a new Facebook account, we recommend preparing (“warming up”) the profile.

This can be done manually. Launch the anti-detect profile several times a day using the Start button. Browse news websites and forums from that profile. You can also open facebook.com several times.

You can also warm up the profile automatically using the built-in Cookie Robot in Octo Browser. The Robot visits websites and collects browsing history and cookies without your involvement.

To activate the Cookie Robot:

  1. Click the three dots next to the desired profile.

  2. Select Cookie Robot.

  3. Insert the list of websites the robot should visit.

Tip: We recommend adding news portals and local websites from the region of the proxy assigned to the profile.

The Cookie Robot will open these resources and collect tracking pixels and cookies. After that, the profile can be used to register a new Facebook account.

Launching a profile and registering a Facebook account

When everything is ready, you can register a Facebook account. To do this:

  1. Launch the anti-detect profile in Octo Browser by clicking Start.

  2. In the new window, go to facebook.com.

  3. Click Create New Account.

  4. Complete the standard Facebook account registration steps.

Important: To create a new Facebook account, you will need a new email address. If you plan to create five accounts, prepare five new email addresses. Each Facebook account must operate from its own anti-detect profile. For example, if you manage 10 accounts, you need 10 separate profiles in Octo.

This way, you can create multiple Facebook accounts and manage them from a single browser. Octo saves session data, so you will not need to enter your login and password each time you access your Facebook accounts.

Conclusion

Meta prohibits users from registering more than one personal account and continuously improves its algorithms to detect multi-accounting. The system analyzes digital fingerprints, IP addresses, and behavioral patterns. Once a connection is detected, the accounts are blocked.

In 2026, the platform introduced a compromise in the form of additional profiles. A user can create up to four profiles within a primary account to separate multiple interests. However, Facebook still links them to the main account. The same principle applies to the Business Manager: a user can create multiple business pages, but the system connects them to a personal profile.

If you want to register a second independent account without the risk of a ban, you need to change technical parameters: the fingerprint and the IP address. This task can be handled by Octo Browser with proxies. This setup allows you to work with multiple Facebook accounts more safely and manage them without triggering suspicion from Facebook’s algorithms.

FAQ

How many Facebook accounts can I officially have?

The platform allows only one personal account but lets you add up to four additional profiles to that account to separate your interests. In Business Manager, you can create multiple business pages and communities. However, Facebook still links them to the same personal profile.

Can I have more than one personal Facebook account?

According to the platform’s rules, you can have only one personal account and up to four additional profiles. The system links these profiles to the main account and maintains the connection between them. If account isolation is important to you and you want to create multiple independent pages, use Octo Browser together with residential or mobile proxies.

How can I manage two or more Facebook accounts?

Facebook includes a built-in feature for switching between multiple accounts. However, this method is not fully secure. Once the system detects that multiple accounts belong to the same person, it may trigger additional verification measures or block them entirely. A safer approach is to create and manage multiple Facebook accounts through profiles in Octo Browser, with proxies assigned to each profile. This anti-detect browser and proxies spoof key technical parameters and create an isolated digital environment for every profile. As a result, Facebook’s algorithms perceive each such account as a unique user with a unique device and IP address and treat it accordingly.
