Every anti-detect browser claims to be the best. We are no exception, but we prefer to back up our claims with facts. That’s why we run a series of comparison articles where we take a detailed look at how other browsers operate.

Today, we’ll analyze which of the two browsers can offer you more features and better anonymity.

A Brief Overview of Multilogin X

Multilogin has been on the market for a decade and positions itself as the first anti-detect browser. In addition to standard account management and automation features, it offers premium residential proxies and an AI built into the interface.

In 2023, an updated browser version, Multilogin X, was released and became primary. This is the one we will review in our comparison. The older Multilogin 6 is also still available, but it has limited functionality and works with desktops.

Multilogin X operates through a web interface but requires the installation of a special agent on your device. This agent can be installed on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and profiles need to be synchronized with the web version of the browser before launching. However, syncing might sometimes get interrupted, and profiles cannot be launched without prior synchronization.

One unique feature we haven't seen in other anti-detect browsers yet is AI commands for profile automation. This is an interesting solution that might be convenient for simple tasks. However, it is often faster to complete such tasks manually than to create and enter corresponding prompts. Additionally, you retain more control over the entire process by configuring profiles manually or using templates.

Now let’s examine the differences between Multilogin and Octo Browser in detail.

Interface

The main distinctive point of Multilogin X is that it operates through a browser interface. Similar to most anti-detect browsers, the primary workspace is the profile list. However, the available profile details are minimal: only the name, storage location (cloud or device), group, creation date, and modification date. Profiles can be sorted by these parameters. A critical drawback is the lack of proxy information, which is only available in the profile settings. Another limitation is that the profile list table cannot be customized, as you cannot add or remove columns.

In Octo Browser the profile list can be customized with necessary parameters, and all elements in the list are clickable. Profiles can be sorted by name, launch date, creation date, or task status. The profile description where you can leave notes, tags, tasks, and cookies, as well as, most importantly, the connected proxies, are immediately visible. You can also add columns for profile runtime, its size, creation date, launch time, and display its ID.

Multilogin allows organizing profiles into groups. Profiles can be added to a group in bulk or one at a time, and access can be configured for different team members. New groups can be created in a separate menu or when creating a profile. For teamwork convenience Multilogin offers the "Projects" section where you can add team members or join someone else's project, enabling work with multiple teams simultaneously.

In Octo Browser, the function of groups is handled by tags. One profile can have multiple tags, access to which can be set individually for different team members. Tags can be assigned directly in the list, renamed, and color-coded for easy visual navigation.

Multilogin X features a separate help button that links to documentation or opens a widget for tech support requests. Unlike Octo Browser, there is no FAQ section in the chat, so even for common questions you must submit a request and wait for a response. For quicker help, you can also join the Telegram chat.

Overall, Multilogin X offers less functionality in its profile management interface. The key differences between Octo and Multilogin interfaces are summarized below:

Profile Settings

Both browsers allow detailed profile customization. Octo offers more hardware settings, such as selecting the number of CPU cores and RAM size. Multilogin X, on the other hand, allows you to choose the browser kernel (Chrome- or Firefox-based) and use Android fingerprints.

However, Multilogin X does not allow you to add bookmarks, and extension files can only be added through an already created and running profile or by manually transferring files to a folder. There is also no common list of saved extensions, such as available in Octo.

Multilogin X allows you to create and launch up to 10 quick one-time disposable profiles with default fingerprints and minimal settings. Such profiles are not saved and are useful for specific tasks, such as web scraping.

Octo allows you to create quick and ready to go profiles with the required OS and default settings in one click. These profiles remain in your Profile List, allowing you to edit and reuse them at any time.

Octo Browser allows you to create multiple profiles in bulk using pre-made parameter sets (Templates) or by importing files. Additionally, you can select the operating system and generate the required number of profiles with randomized parameters.

After a profile has been created, you can run the Cookie Robot for it. This feature enhances profile credibility and trust scores when registering accounts on various platforms and services, reducing the risk of bans. To launch the Cookie Robot, simply specify the list of URLs it should visit. After that, the browsing history and cookies will automatically be saved in the profile.

Additionally, Octo allows you to assign tasks to profiles. This feature lets you schedule reminders for planned profile actions, such as launching a profile at a specific time. When the reminder triggers, you’ll receive a corresponding notification in a pop-up window and in the bell menu.

Kernel Update Speed

Promptly updating the browser kernel is critical for anti-detect browsers. In Multilogin X, you can choose between two kernels: Mimic X, which mimics Chrome, and Stealthfox, which mimics Firefox. If the kernel is outdated, the profile won’t launch, and the anti-detect browser will prompt you to download the latest kernel version.

In Multilogin X, it’s impossible to view the user-agent data while creating a profile. The kernel version, as well as the user-agent information, only appears after the profile has been created, unlike in Octo Browser where it’s visible during profile creation.

If we compare kernel updates in Octo and Multilogin, we can see that Octo consistently updates faster. This is crucially important for creating authentic fingerprints that are indistinguishable from those of regular Google Chrome users.

Profile and Bulk Actions

Multilogin X offers a basic set of profile actions: editing, renaming, cookie import, sending to trash, cloning, and organizing profiles into groups. Exporting a profile isn’t possible; you can only export its cookies.

Bulk action options are limited: after selecting multiple profiles, you can assign them to groups, launch, stop, or delete them.

Octo Browser offers more actions for both individual and multiple profiles. A single profile can be edited, assigned tasks, have cookies imported or a Cookie Robot launched, and be assigned one or more tags. You can also clone, transfer, export in .octo format, delete, or view the activity history of the profile.

Octo Browser also offers more bulk actions: you can edit tags in multiple profiles at once, set up and check proxies or change their IPs, delete and transfer profiles, edit extensions, and create tasks. You can launch or stop multiple profiles at once, as well as import and export them in bulk.

Teamwork

In Multilogin X, starting from the Team subscription, you can invite team members to a project, and the number of participants is unlimited. The project has four roles: "owner," "manager," "user," and "launcher." The "owner" has access to all functions, while the access rights for "managers," "users," and "launchers" vary, and, depending on the role, include profiles, groups, notes, the trash, and the ability to add or remove users.

In Octo Browser, you can add team members starting with the Team subscription or higher. Access permissions are defined not by roles but by the participants’ specific functions and abilities. You can specify which functions and tags the new team member will have access to in the settings.

By default, a team member gets access to proxies, templates, and extensions. The master account can only grant rights to available actions with them.

You can fine-tune the actions team members are allowed to perform with profiles. By default, all possible profile actions are enabled, but unnecessary ones can be disabled.

Another important feature for teamwork that Octo offers is the Action Log. It allows the account owner to track all team actions and all changes made to profiles.

Profile Data Security

Multilogin X servers, just like those of Octo Browser, are located in Europe, meaning all GDPR policies apply to the data. For example, all user information is deleted three months after their subscription ends. Multilogin X also promises security by hashing passwords so that they are not transmitted as plain text. The platform uses AES encryption for account data and encrypts data before storing it in the cloud. However, there are no additional protections for profiles stored locally. Multilogin X accounts do not support two-factor authentication (2FA).

In Octo Browser, data storage is implemented similarly, preventing unauthorized access to profile information. Additionally, you can set passwords for profiles, which protects them not only from being launched by other team members but also from potential attackers. Even if someone gains access to your device, they won't be able to retrieve profile data without the password. Another security measure that Octo Browser offers is two-factor authentication. We recommend setting up 2FA to ensure your accounts are well protected.

Technical Support

Multilogin X offers 24/7 support via a dedicated widget. Detailed documentation is available for both the browser and API, along with video tutorials and guides.

Octo Browser provides extensive documentation with video guides, a support widget on the website and in the browser, as well as a Telegram bot. Additionally, there is an active browser community in both Russian and English where users can participate in contests, receive promo codes and special offers, discuss issues and challenges with their peers, and provide development feedback.

Subscriptions and Pricing

Multilogin X has three subscription plans: the minimum monthly subscription costs €29 per month and includes 10 browser profiles and 1GB of proxy traffic per month. The most expensive plan listed, Team, costs €159 per month and offers 300 browser profiles and 10GB of traffic, along with other standard features. There is also a three-day trial period with three profiles for €3.99.

Octo Browser offers a more flexible subscription system with four main plans. Additionally, you can further customize your chosen subscription by purchasing more profiles, team member slots, and API requests. The minimum subscription also costs €29 per month and includes 10 browser profiles, but it provides more features and customization options. A corresponding Team subscription in Octo costs only €10 more but offers 50 additional profiles, as well as templates, profile transfer capabilities, and other features that Multilogin X does not offer at all.
