A Brief Overview of Multilogin X

Multilogin has been on the market for a decade and positions itself as the first anti-detect browser. In addition to standard account management and automation features, it offers premium residential proxies and an AI built into the interface.

In 2023, an updated browser version, Multilogin X, was released and became primary. This is the one we will review in our comparison. The older Multilogin 6 is also still available, but it has limited functionality and works with desktops.

Multilogin X operates through a web interface but requires the installation of a special agent on your device. This agent can be installed on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and profiles need to be synchronized with the web version of the browser before launching. However, syncing might sometimes get interrupted, and profiles cannot be launched without prior synchronization.

Another feature, not yet so widespread, is AI commands for automating work with profiles. However, for simple tasks like launching or editing a profile, it’s faster to do it manually than to write an AI request. Additionally, you retain more control over the entire process by configuring profiles manually or using templates.

Now let’s examine the differences between Multilogin and Octo Browser in detail.

Interface

The main distinctive point of Multilogin X is that it operates through a browser interface.  As in most anti-detect browsers, the main workspace here is a profile list, which can be filtered by various parameters. However, the list lacks critically important proxy information, which is only available in profile settings. Profiles can be dragged between folders and rearranged within the list.

In Octo Browser the profile list can be customized with necessary parameters, and all elements in the list are clickable. Profiles can be sorted by name, launch date, creation date, or task status. The profile description where you can leave notes, tags, tasks, and cookies, as well as, most importantly, the connected proxies, are immediately visible. You can also add columns for profile runtime, its size, creation date, launch time, and display its ID.

Octo Browser interface

Multilogin allows organizing profiles into groups. Profiles can be added to a group in bulk or one at a time, and access can be configured for different team members. New groups can be created in a separate menu or when creating a profile. For teamwork convenience Multilogin offers the "Projects" section where you can add team members or join someone else's project, enabling work with multiple teams simultaneously.

In Octo Browser, the function of groups is handled by tags. One profile can have multiple tags, access to which can be set individually for different team members. Tags can be assigned directly in the list, renamed, and color-coded for easy visual navigation.

Multilogin X features a separate help button that links to documentation or opens a widget for tech support requests. Unlike Octo Browser, there is no FAQ section in the chat, so even for common questions you must submit a request and wait for a response. For quicker help, you can also join the Telegram chat.

Overall, Multilogin X offers less functionality in its profile management interface. The key differences between Octo and Multilogin interfaces are summarized below:

Profile Settings

Both Octo and Multilogin allow detailed configuration of desktop and mobile profiles. Octo offers more hardware-level options: for example, you can choose the number of CPU cores and the amount of RAM.

In Multilogin X, you can select the browser engine (Chrome or Firefox), but it’s not possible to add bookmarks. Extension files can only be installed manually or through an already running browser.

Multilogin X allows you to create and launch up to 10 quick one-time disposable profiles with default fingerprints and minimal settings. Such profiles are not saved and are useful for specific tasks, such as web scraping. They are created through the same interface as standard ones, but with fewer settings.

In Octo, one-time disposable profiles (deleted after use) are launched via API.

Octo Browser lets you create profiles in bulk using quick profiles, preconfigured parameter sets (templates), or file import.

In Multilogin, you can save a profile’s settings as a template and reuse it later. However, bulk profile creation is only available via AI commands or import.

An additional advantage of Octo is that after creating a profile, you can activate the Cookie Robot. This feature enhances profile credibility and trust scores when registering accounts on various platforms and services, reducing the risk of bans. To launch the Cookie Robot, simply specify the list of URLs it should visit. After that, the browsing history and cookies will automatically be saved in the profile.

A distinctive feature of Octo Browser is profile tasks. With this function, you can set reminders for specific actions — for example, to launch a profile at a scheduled time. When the reminder triggers, you’ll receive a corresponding notification in a pop-up window and in the bell menu.

Both browsers let you purchase proxy traffic from partner providers directly within the interface. Multilogin X offers both residential and mobile proxies, while Octo Browser currently supports residential proxies only.

Kernel Update Speed

Promptly updating the browser kernel is critical for anti-detect browsers. In Multilogin X, you can choose between two kernels: Mimic X, which mimics Chrome, and Stealthfox, which mimics Firefox. If the kernel is outdated, the profile won’t launch, and the anti-detect browser will prompt you to download the latest kernel version.

In Multilogin X, it’s impossible to view the user-agent data while creating a profile. The kernel version, as well as the user-agent information, only appears after the profile has been created, unlike in Octo Browser where it’s visible during profile creation.

If we compare kernel update speed, Octo updates about a week faster than Multilogin. This is crucial for generating reliable, up-to-date fingerprints indistinguishable from those of regular Chrome users.

Profile and Bulk Actions

Both browsers offer a similar basic set of profile actions: editing, renaming, importing and exporting profiles and cookies, moving to trash, and cloning.

Actions with profiles in Multilogin X

The difference is that Multilogin allows grouping profiles into folders. Octo Browser, on the other hand, enables you to view a profile action history, which is highly useful for teamwork.

Octo Browser also offers more bulk actions: you can edit tags in multiple profiles at once, set up and check proxies or change their IPs, delete and transfer profiles, edit extensions, and create tasks. You can launch or stop multiple profiles at once, as well as import and export them in bulk.

Teamwork

With the Business subscription, Multilogin X allows you to invite unlimited team members to a project. You can define different access levels for profiles, proxies, groups, notes, trash, and the ability to add or remove users.

In Octo Browser, team members can be added starting from the Team subscription and above. The master account can finely configure permissions for profiles, proxies, templates, and extensions, and even limit access to specific tags or features.

Another important teamwork feature in Octo is the Action Log, which allows the account owner to track all team activity.

Profile Data Security

The servers of both Multilogin X and Octo Browser are located in Europe, which means all GDPR regulations apply. AES encryption protects account data before cloud storage.

In Octo Browser, data storage is implemented similarly, preventing unauthorized access to profile information. Additionally, you can set passwords for profiles, which protects them not only from being launched by other team members but also from potential attackers. Even if someone gains access to your device, they won't be able to retrieve profile data without the password. Another security measure that Octo Browser offers is two-factor authentication. We recommend setting up 2FA to ensure your accounts are well protected.

Technical Support

Multilogin X offers 24/7 support via a dedicated widget. Detailed documentation is available for both the browser and API, along with video tutorials and guides.

Octo Browser provides detailed documentation, video tutorials, a built-in support widget (both on the website and in the browser), and a Telegram bot. In its English- and Russian-speaking communities, you can participate in contests, get promo codes and special offers, discuss your questions with other users, and share feedback with Octo developers.

Subscriptions and Pricing

Multilogin X offers three subscription tiers. A 3-day trial period with 5 profiles and no API access costs €3.99. The minimal monthly Starter subscription costs €9 and includes 10 browser profiles and 1 GB of proxy traffic per month, without team features. You can pay extra to add more profiles or two additional team members. The most expensive Business subscription costs €159 per month, offering 300 browser profiles, unlimited team size, and 10 GB of traffic, along with all core resources.

Octo Browser offers a more flexible system thanks to its five main subscription tiers. Additionally, you can further customize your chosen subscription by purchasing more profiles, team member slots, and API requests. The minimal Lite subscription with three profiles and all core features costs just €10 if purchased for one month. A teamwork-enabling subscription in Octo costs only €10 more than its Multilogin counterpart but comes with 50 more profiles. Thanks to cheaper intermediate tiers, Octo lets you easily choose the most suitable option for your needs without overpaying for the resources you don’t really need.

Conclusion

Both Octo Browser and Multilogin X are powerful anti-detect browsers for multi-accounting that help maintain online anonymity.

Multilogin X stands out with profile folders, browser-based operation, and AI automation for simple commands. However, its bulk profile actions are limited, and its pricing model lacks flexibility.

Octo Browser provides a more convenient profile management interface and better team collaboration tools. The browser ensures maximum data security and updates its kernel faster, making it the more practical, efficient, and secure solution overall. Flexible subscription terms make Octo the best choice for those who prioritize convenience, ease of use, and security when managing multiple accounts.
